HDFC Bank is set to power over 1,000 villages with clean energy solutions by 2025 under its flagship CSR programme, Parivartan. The initiative aims to enable rural and semi-urban communities with solar-powered infrastructure, awareness campaigns, and strategic local partnerships.
So far, Parivartan has installed more than 61,655 solar streetlights across 22 states. The programme also includes portable solar pumps for irrigation, solar-based water supply systems, and food processing units鈥攕upporting both sustainability and local livelihoods.
HDFC Bank鈥檚 鈥楽olar Shiksha鈥� programme addresses low adoption due to misinformation, lack of awareness, and procedural hurdles. It offers on-ground education, live demos, and guidance on accessing government schemes and subsidies.
Over 90 workshops have been conducted in states including Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Chhattisgarh. The programme targets schools, hospitals, farms, orphanages, and old-age homes鈥攚here solar power can significantly enhance day-to-day living.
