Lucknow Approves Rs two Billion for Urban Development

The Lucknow Infrastructure Fund Committee has approved an allocation of Rs two billion to enhance the city’s urban development and environmental conservation efforts. The funding aims to accelerate ongoing projects blending infrastructure improvement with ecological and cultural upliftment.

Central to this initiative is the Green Corridor from Basant Kunj to Pipraghat, receiving Rs 900 million. Key projects include Rs 500 million for an embankment from Pipraghat to Shaheed Path to boost flood resilience and connectivity, Rs 150 million for a second embankment towards Ekana Stadium, and Rs 100 million for a road overbridge at the Pipraghat railway crossing.

Ancillary works such as underground power cabling, signage, utility shifting, and rotary development will receive Rs 150 million. Shaheed Path’s beautification has been allocated over Rs 100 million for horticulture and irrigation enhancements. Restoration of Motijheel, Jamuna, and Eldeco lakes is backed by Rs 80 million, supporting biodiversity and groundwater recharge.

Additional investments include Rs 30 million for a tropical park on the Gomti riverfront and plans for an entertainment park under a public-private partnership. Urban mobility projects feature a new foot overbridge near Lulu Mall to improve pedestrian safety.

Cultural upgrades worth Rs 100 million will fund a musical fountain, façade improvements, and museum electrification. Public health and accessibility enhancements include open gyms in 50 parks, street lighting, and sculptures at key junctions. Restoration of the Rifa-e-Aam Club and museum conversion at Amiruddaula Library have also been prioritised.

This Rs two billion package reflects Lucknow’s commitment to sustainable growth, blending modern infrastructure with ecological stewardship and cultural preservation.
