BBMP to Spend Rs 537 Million on Consultants for Infra Projects

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is set to spend Rs 537 million on consultancy services for various infrastructure projects under the Brand Bengaluru initiative. The move is part of Karnataka’s broader aim to decongest the city and strengthen mobility.

BBMP has already spent over Rs 140 million for detailed project reports (DPRs), including Rs 95 million to Rodic Consultants for an eighteen-kilometre tunnel road from Hebbal to Silk Board and Rs 47 million to Altinok Consulting for a feasibility study on a 170-kilometre network. Another Rs 90 million is planned for Rodic’s DPR on an east-west tunnel between KR Puram and Nayandahalli.

In addition, Rs 220 million will be spent on Siddhi Consulting Engineers, Nagesh Consultants, and Infra Support to prepare DPRs for four elevated corridors. Boston Consulting Group has been hired as financial advisor for Rs 85 million over twenty-one weeks.

Rodic Consultants has faced criticism for alleged errors in earlier DPRs, including a Rs 500 thousand fine. Approval is pending for its new assignment.

The government has allocated Rs seven billion to BBMP for financial year 2025-26 and provided a Rs 19 billion guarantee to back tunnel projects worth Rs 40 billion.
