Prism Johnson to expand cement, tiles production capacity in MP, WB

Prism Johnson Ltd has considered the expansion of cement production capacity in Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, subject to requisite approvals.

The existing production capacity of cement is 5.6 million tonne per annum (MTPA), and the average current capacity utilisation is 100.2% for the last three years.

The proposed capacity addition of cement is one million tonne annually of grinding capacity. The investment for the mentioned capacity expansion is likely to be Rs 250 crore.

It involves the proposed cement capacity expansion of 0.9 MTPA which was announced on 28 December 2021, as stated by the firm.

Moreover, the company's Board of Directors has also considered the subject to the approval of the expansion of tile production capacity.

The existing production capacity of tile in a standalone entity and joint venture entities is 60 million sq m, and the proposed additional production capacity in joint venture entities is 6 million sq m. The tile production capacity at Panagarh, West Bengal, is a standalone entity of 2.5 million sq m.

The investment needed for the tile production capacity in joint ventures entities is around Rs 70 crore. While the tile production capacity at Panagarh, West Bengal, the standalone entity, is around Rs 55 crore.
