Ramco commissions ph 2 of waste heat recovery plant

Ramco Cements has announced the completion and commissioning of the second phase of 9 MW capacity installation at its Jayanthipuram plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The cement manufacturer aims to install a total of 27 MW of waste heat recovery plants in all three lines of clinker manufacturing, including a proposed third line, which is nearing completion.
Ramco had already commissioned phase 1 in September last year and is producing its full capacity. Phase 2 of 9 MW capacity was completed and commissioned on 28 February 2021, and is now producing at full capacity.

With the commissioning of phase 2 of the waste heat recovery plant, 60% of the existing power requirement up to clinkerisation will be met from waste heat recovery plants, an environment-friendly source of power. The project cost for all three phases of waste heat recovery plants is estimated at Rs 220 crore.

The Jayanthipuram Cement Plant, located in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh, was commissioned in 1986 and has a capacity of 3.65 MTPA. The plant is equipped with SF Cooler, Vertical Pre-grinding mill with a 3-way separator, Ramco Fuzzy Logic System, Rotoscale for Kiln feed weighing system. It also has a slag mill for the manufacture of Portland Slag Cement.
The plant was also the first in the cement industry to instal the online Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQM) and to interlink and upload the online data with the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) website.
Update: Meanwhile, Ramco also announced its expansion plans: its16 mt/year installed production capacity will increase to 20 mt/year during FY 2021-22, aides by the completion of its Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, plant and a third production line at its Jayanthipuram plant.
