Indian Auto LPG Coalition Urges Inclusion in National Fuel Policy

Auto LPG, known for being approximately 40% cheaper than petrol and emitting fewer pollutants, stands out as a practical alternative fuel option. Suyash Gupta, Director General of IAC, underscored the dual benefits of Auto LPG adoption, emphasizing its capability to mitigate emissions such as CO2 and particulate matter. The coalition has put forth strategic proposals to bolster the adoption of Auto LPG across the country. These proposals include advocating for a more prominent role for Auto LPG within the national clean fuel policy alongside electric vehicles (EVs) and compressed natural gas (CNG). Additionally, the IAC has recommended tax incentives to incentivize manufacturers to produce Auto LPG vehicle variants and has proposed a reduction in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Auto LPG from 18% to 5%. Aligning the GST rate with domestic LPG aims to curb illegal diversion and make Auto LPG more affordable and accessible for consumers nationwide.
