IBA urges MNRE to provide financial support for energy project

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has been requested by the Indian Biogas Association to increase the central financial assistance provided under the waste to energy programme to Rs 950 crore. An initial budget of Rs 478 crore had been set aside by the government.

The Central Financial Assistance (CFA) under the "Waste to Energy Scheme" has been proposed by the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) to be doubled to Rs 950 crore.

According to the notification published on February 28, 2020, the MNRE granted around Rs 478 crore for 257 MWeq under the CFA awards in 2019鈥�20.

According to the statement, this Rs 478 crore allocation is far less than the CFA/subsidy required to reach the target under the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) initiative, which aims to create 5,000 large-scale Bio-CNG/CB plants.
