10 CIL projects get green nod for expansion

So far, the state-owned CIL's ten coal mining projects have received approval for expansion, which would result in an additional capacity of 9.65 million tonne, Parliament was informed on Monday. The administration has already relaxed the rules for coal mine expansion in response to a supply shortage during the summer months.

In response to a question in Rajya Sahba, Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that three of Coal India's (CIL) ten projects are in Odisha, two each in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and one in Chhattisgarh.

While five coal mine expansion projects received environmental clearances (EC) in May, the remaining five received approval in July.
