Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has expanded its operational renewable energy capacity to 12,258.1 MW with the commissioning of an additional 275 MW solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat, the company announced on Friday.
"Adani Green Energy Twenty Five A Ltd, wholly-owned step-down subsidiary of the company, has operationalized an incremental 275 MW of solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat," the company stated in a regulatory filing.
With this addition, AGEL has now surpassed the 12,000 MW mark, making it the first and only renewable energy company in India to achieve this milestone. The company’s total portfolio includes 8,347.5 MW solar, 1,651 MW wind, and 2,259.6 MW hybrid wind-solar capacity.
A Major Boost for India’s Clean Energy Goals
AGEL's operational 12,258.1 MW portfolio is projected to power over 6.2 million homes and prevent approximately 22.64 million tonnes of CO? emissions annually—equivalent to the carbon absorption of 1,078 million trees.
The company’s renewable energy capacity accounts for 10% of India's installed utility-scale solar and wind capacity and contributes over 13% of India’s utility-scale solar installations.
Building the World’s Largest Renewable Energy Plant
Adani Green Energy is currently developing the world’s largest renewable energy park at Khavda, spanning 538 sq km—an area nearly five times the size of Paris and almost as large as Mumbai. Once fully operational, the 30,000 MW plant will be the largest power plant across all energy sources globally.
So far, AGEL has operationalized 2,824.1 MW of renewable energy at Khavda. The company remains committed to achieving 50,000 MW of clean energy capacity by 2030, reinforcing its leadership in India’s renewable energy transition.
