Artificial intelligence (AI) driven string inverters are shaping up for the future as technologically-advanced, cost-effective inverters that generate maximum output are becoming a natural choice for solar installers.
While inverters account for only 5% of a project's total cost, they are a critical component in determining a solar system's performance and efficiency.
In 2020, string inverters accounted for nearly 49% of India's total inverter market share, up from 30% in 2018.
According to Mercom鈥檚 India Solar Market Leaderboard 2021, Huawei, Sungrow, Growatt, Goodwe, and Solis dominated the string inverters category in the calendar year 2020.
String inverters are in high demand as the rooftop solar market expands. Remote monitoring and built-in safety features are also essential components of rooftop systems.
String inverters have grown exponentially in the last two years, making it critical to select the right inverters for the projects. Customers have several options from which to choose, and in most cases, the installers make the decision on their behalf.
The solar inverter industry is evolving in tandem with rapidly changing technology. AI is poised to dominate the inverter market in the not-too-distant future. AI and big data analytics are undoubtedly going to make string inverters smarter and remote monitoring much easier.
Improvements to inverters, such as increased maximum power point trackers (MPPT) granularity and the integration of artificial intelligence with more capable algorithms, are all expected to usher in a new era of solar inverters capable of meeting the changing demands of the solar industry.
