GMADA launches Green Drive for Horticultural Development in IT City

Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) is set to initiate a campaign aimed at promoting plantation and enhancing horticulture in the vicinity of IT City near the airport. The objective of this endeavour, as stated by officials, is to bolster the city's horticultural development, with GMADA allocating approximately Rs 180 million for the project.
According to a representative from the development authority, out of the total budget, approximately Rs 100 million will be dedicated to tree plantation, enhancing ground cover, and grass plantation along the main road. The remaining Rs 80 million will be utilised for the development of horticultural initiatives.
"The decision was made to invigorate the new sectors of the city, particularly the recently developed IT City. Additionally, this project will contribute to augmenting the green cover in the area," an official explained.
Furthermore, the official added that GMADA will also allocate around Rs 2.6 million for horticultural work from Sector 73/74 to the railway bridge on the airport road.
GMADA has been diligently developing new sectors with a focus on increasing the green cover. The IT City stands as one of the most valuable projects in terms of property transactions and investments. In addition to residential zones, the IT City also encompasses commercial areas, housing campuses of private universities.
In line with GMADA's comprehensive development plan for the city, the authority will also assign the task of road sweeping for the sectors dividing 87/97, 86/98, and 84/100. This initiative forms a part of the overall development strategy for the city.
