GreenCell Mobility advances green revolution with EV powering strategy

GreenCell Mobility, a trailblazer in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, announced that its subsidiary, GreenCell Express, operating under the "NueGo" brand of inter-city electric buses, has entered into a power purchase agreement and strategically invested in a 1 MW Wind Solar Hybrid captive power plant in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. The power plant boasts an annual generation capacity of 4.6 million units.

This groundbreaking initiative, touted as an industry first, is anticipated to result in a substantial reduction of approximately 38,000 tons of CO2 emissions over the buses' lifetime. It seamlessly aligns with GreenCell's overarching objective of transforming into a Net Zero company, as highlighted in a recent media release.

Devndra Chawla, CEO and MD of GreenCell Mobility, expressed, "At GreenCell Mobility, we are not merely embracing the future; we are actively shaping it. Powering our electric vehicles with renewable energy sources in Madhya Pradesh is not just an innovation; it's a dedicated commitment to our planet and the well-being of future generations. By setting a precedent in the industry, we aim to demonstrate that sustainable practices can coexist harmoniously with business growth."

In keeping with this vision, GreenCell Mobility is proactively seeking similar agreements in other states of operation. The company's ultimate objective is a complete transition from grid power to renewable energy sources. Furthermore, GreenCell is exploring the implementation of Battery Energy Storage solutions to ensure that its operations are entirely green from end to end. The company is actively engaging with both central and state stakeholders to advocate for policy changes that encourage the widespread adoption of renewable energy for electric buses, according to the press release.
