GUVNL Seeks Bids for 500 MW Wind Power Projects

The Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has issued a call for bids to procure power from 500 MW of wind energy projects. This initiative is part of GUVNL's efforts to enhance the state?s renewable energy capacity and ensure a sustainable energy supply.

The tender is open to developers willing to establish wind power projects in Gujarat. Bidders are required to submit proposals that meet specific technical and financial criteria. The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate basis, ensuring efficient project execution and management.

The bidding process includes the possibility of increasing capacity by an additional 500 MW if demand and conditions allow. This flexibility aims to attract a broad range of participants and optimise resource utilisation.

GUVNL's move aligns with Gujarat's strategic focus on renewable energy, contributing to India?s national target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The state has been a leader in wind energy, leveraging its favourable geography to drive growth in the sector.

Successful bidders will enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with GUVNL for 25 years, providing long-term stability and encouraging investment in the region?s renewable energy infrastructure.
