NHPC, BSHPC enter pact for 130.1 MW Dagmara HE project

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and Bihar State Hydroelectric Power Corporation (BSHPC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for implementing the 130.1 MW Dagmara hydroelectric project in Supaul district, Bihar.

In the presence of RK Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Power, New and Renewable Energy and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, the Energy Minister of Bihar the signatories signed and exchanged the MOU.

Biswajit Basu, Director (Projects) of NHPC, and Alok Kumar, managing director of BSHPC, signed the MOU.

Singh praised the NHPC for their prompt response and cooperation in pursuing the project, which demonstrates their commitment to the development of hydropower.

He said that hydropower is vital to combat climate change and make the transition from fossil to non-fossil fuels for future generations.

AK Singh, CMD, NHPC said that in addition to providing clean and green energy, the project will also enhance Bihar's socioeconomic and infrastructure development, along with generating job possibilities.

The largest hydropower project in Bihar, the 130.1 MW Dagmara HE Project, will be developed by NHPC on an ownership basis.
