NHPC awards Rs 188 cr contract to Tata Power Solar

NHPC (erstwhile National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) awarded the contract of Rs 188 crore to Tata Power Solar Systems for the development of a 40 MW solar power project in the Ganjam region in Odisha.
In acquiescence to Regulation 30 read with SEBI Regulations, 2015, it is to announce that NHPC awarded an EPC contract to Tata Power Solar on 24 May 2021 for the development of a 40 MW solar power project in Ganjam of Odisha, amounting to Rs 188.19 crore, NHPC told the media.
The EPC contract offered to Tata Power Solar includes the installation of a solar power plant in a government area, gained by NHPC for the particular purpose from the state IDCO agency, besides the work of associated 220 KV cable connectivity at 220 KV OPTCL transmission through the Lilo Provision and extensive O&M for a decade.
NHPC told the media that the power generated from the solar project needs to be obtained by GRIDCO for the whole 25 years of project life. The project has been authorised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the solar power scheme, and its commissioning is scheduled within a time of one year, NHPC added.
Till the end of 2030, NHPC announced the previous year that it is looking forward to having 20,000 MW of installed capacity, including its joint ventures and subsidiaries.
The company is looking to develop a 500 MW solar power project in Odisha and Telangana and a 50 MW solar power project in Kerala.
These projects will be enforced under the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks scheme of MNRE. Along with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), NHPC is also one of the implementing agencies for the ministry's renewable energy projects.
