NITK to inaugurate a charging station

Mangalore鈥檚 NITK Surathkal has been striving toward a green campus and reducing its carbon footprint and is all set to unveil 鈥楿rja鈥�, the institute鈥檚 first-ever solar power charging station for e-mobility.聽

The event will be inaugurated by Udaykumar R Yaragatti, director (in-charge), and will be presided over by Vijay Desai, dean of alumni affairs and institutional relations (AAIR), NITK Surathkal.

Project Urja involves solar-powered charging infrastructure for electric vehicles at the institute campus. The facility is reportedly the contribution of the NITK batch of 1970. Six e-cycles, two e-scooters or e-bikes and an e-car can be charged at this station at a given time and the station is equipped with a 7.5 kW inverter, eight 12v 165 Ah C10 tubular batteries and twelve 400 W solar panels.
