Rangamati Enterprise has secured a contract from the West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL) for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the 10 MW ground-mounted solar power project at Sagardighi thermal power plant in Murshidabad. The contract, which spans four and a half months, is valued at ?1.98 million (~$23,540). The tender, issued in February 2023, outlines Rangamati鈥檚 responsibilities, including administrative tasks, monitoring, maintenance operations, documentation, and ensuring the project's successful operation. Subcontracting is not permitted under the tender terms. Delays in executing tasks or supplying materials will result in penalties, with WBPDCL reserving the right to recover 0.5% of the delayed work鈥檚 value per week, capped at 10% of the total contract value as liquidated damages. WBPDCL鈥檚 Sagardighi thermal plant hosts five solar projects, including the 10 MW ground-mounted solar system. Other completed installations include a 3.511 MWdc rooftop solar project and a 5 MW floating solar project. Additionally, the development of two 10 MW floating solar projects is underway at four raw water ponds. In July 2023, WBPDCL awarded a 22.5 MW floating solar project to Indore-based Universal Transformers for its Bakreswar, Santhaldih, and Sagardighi plants. August saw WBPDCL seek bids to manage the 3.5 MW rooftop solar project at Sagardighi. Earlier, in February 2024, WBPDCL called for bids to construct a 10 MW solar project on a turnkey basis along the Teesta Canal bank in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal.
