RE Minister Joshi meets German & Danish officials to boost energy ties

During the 4th Global RE-Invest 2024 event in Gujarat, Pralhad Joshi, the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy, engaged with officials from Germany and Denmark to enhance cooperation in the renewable energy sector.

Speaking at the launch of the India-Germany Platform for Investments in Renewable Energy Globally, Joshi highlighted the strong partnership between India and Germany in the renewable energy space, expressing confidence that this collaboration will expand significantly in the coming years.

Denmark's Minister for Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs, Morten Bodskov, also met with Joshi to discuss scaling up renewable energy cooperation between the two countries. Joshi expressed his gratitude to Denmark for partnering with India in organising the 4th Global RE-Invest event, emphasising the deep-rooted diplomatic relations and historic ties between the nations.

Joshi noted that India and Denmark have made significant progress under their green strategic partnership, particularly in offshore wind development. This includes collaborative efforts on the feasibility of an offshore wind test research center, exploring offshore wind potential in Gujarat, and contributing to offshore bidding strategies and capacity-building initiatives. Discussions are also underway to establish a Centre of Excellence for green hydrogen in collaboration with Denmark.

Joshi acknowledged Denmark's leadership in the global market for key areas essential to green transformation, stating, "India brings scale while Denmark offers specialised skills." He described the Partner Country Session of RE-Invest 2024 with Denmark as a "success" and expressed optimism about leveraging Denmark's expertise and experience in the renewable sector. (ET)
