Saatvik Starts Work on Rs 30 Billion Solar Plant in Odisha

Saatvik Solar Industries (SSIPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gurugram-based Saatvik Green Energy (SGEL), has commenced construction of a four GW solar PV module manufacturing facility in Odisha. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 5 June 2025, marking a significant milestone in SGEL鈥檚 nationwide expansion strategy.

The Rs 30 billion project is being developed on a 57-acre site sub-leased from Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (SEZ), strategically located along National Highway 16 within the Gopalpur Industrial Park in Ganjam district.

This facility forms a key part of SGEL鈥檚 plan to establish an integrated 4.80 GW solar cell and 4.00 GW module manufacturing ecosystem, with the cell unit expected to be operational by the end of FY27 and the module unit by FY26. In parallel, SGEL is also adding one GW of module capacity at its Ambala facility, targeted for completion by Q1/FY26.

Upon completion, SGEL will have a combined annual capacity of 4.80 GW for cells and 8.80 GW for modules across its two sites in Ambala and Odisha.

Prashant Mathur, CEO of SGEL, stated that the company aims to remain at the forefront of solar energy manufacturing in India. He emphasised that this project supports the country鈥檚 renewable energy targets and aligns with the Make-in-India vision by strengthening domestic solar manufacturing capabilities.
