SECI seeks bids for solar project feasibility studies in South Andaman

In order to establish local solar projects, the Solar Energy Corporation of India [SECI] has released a tender seeking bidders who are able to carry out technical studies in South Andaman. The government agency is currently looking for companies to carry out the topography survey and geotechnical investigation close to the Mithakhari location in the South Andaman district of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

By the end of August 4, SECI has requested that all interested companies submit their offers. On August 4, it stated that the techno commercial bids would be opened. According to SECI's tender-related documentation, the South Andaman district's Mithakari hamlet contains about 40.12 hectares of land that might be used for a solar power plant.

According to a municipal official, the land is free of any encumbrances, encrochments, and impediments and does not border any forested areas. According to the tender's requirements, the bidders would be responsible for conducting electrical resistivity tests at designated places and examining soil and water samples, among other inspections, to determine whether solar project feasibility in the region.

With a total population of 2.38 lakh people living in three blocks over a 3106 sq-km area and 99 revenue villagers, the South Andaman district as a whole. Three tehsils, nine police stations, and one municipality are all that are present.

The deployment of solar energy projects for South Andaman had previously been planned by the Union government to increase the area's uptake of clean energy. It intended to aid the eco-sensitive area in avoiding energy based on fossil fuels.
