SECI to supply 600 MW wind energy to GRIDCO Odisha

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) will be providing 600 MW of wind energy to the transmission company GRIDCO Odisha. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) confirmed that this power supply agreement has been established between the two parties.

According to the statement, SECI has entered into a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with GRIDCO Odisha, which is a government entity in the state of Odisha. This agreement entails GRIDCO Odisha purchasing 600 MW of wind power from SECI as part of Tranche - XIII of the ISTS (Inter State Transmission System) Connected Wind Power Projects Scheme.

The ISTS scheme allows for the transmission of power generated from states abundant in renewable energy resources to states that lack such resources.

The signing of the agreement between SECI and GRIDCO took place in Bhubaneshwar, with the presence of N B Dhal, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Energy in the Government of Odisha.

The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission has already granted in-principal approval for GRIDCO to procure 600 MW of wind power.

SECI serves as the nodal agency responsible for the implementation of renewable energy projects in India.

Currently, GRIDCO Ltd is involved in the bulk purchase and sale of power to four distribution companies in Odisha. Additionally, it engages in power trading with neighboring states in the country to facilitate the exchange of surplus power.
