SunShell Power Commissions 250 kW Solar Plant at Prayagraj Railway Station

SunShell Power has successfully launched a 250 kW solar power plant at Prayagraj Railway Station, marking a significant achievement in Indian Railways鈥 efforts to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

The inauguration of the solar plant aligns with the environmentally-conscious initiatives during Mahakumbh 2025, including a ban on single-use plastics and the promotion of eco-friendly transport, as per a statement released on Thursday.

The solar plant is expected to generate over 7 million units of clean energy over its lifetime, resulting in an estimated saving of Rs 7 crore on electricity costs and a reduction of 3,220 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. This is equivalent to planting 150,000 fully grown trees.

The plant supports Indian Railways' sustainability targets and also complements the green initiatives at Mahakumbh 2025, demonstrating a blend of tradition and modern environmental responsibility during the event.

SunShell Power鈥檚 achievement highlights India鈥檚 commitment to a greener future and the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing climate challenges.

Sayantan Chatterjee, Co-Founder and CEO of SunShell Power, stated, 鈥淭his project represents our commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions. Being part of the Mahakumbh 2025, a once-in-a-lifetime event, makes it even more significant.
