Tata and Ashoka Buildcon secure 470 MW from solar auction

Tata Group鈥檚 solar energy services division Tata Power Solar and construction engineering company Ashoka Buildcon have secured 470 MW of solar projects under NTPC鈥檚 engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) auction for a total of 1.07 GW solar projects.

Under the bucket-filling method:

Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd has been awarded 320 MW
Ashoka Buildcon Ltd gets 150 MW

Tata placed bids for 470 MW while Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Jakson Ltd had also placed bids for 300 MW and 100 MW respectively, but could not secure any project capacity.

NTPC had earlier floated the EPC tender for 1.07 GW capacity projects in August in anticipation of winning the auction conducted by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the same capacity.

Since NTPC was awarded only 470 MW in the auction, they reduced the corresponding EPC auction to match the capacity won, ie, 470 MW.

Commissioning of the grid-connected solar projects on a turnkey basis
In the SECI auction solar projects in Rajasthan, NTPC quoted Rs 2.01 per kWh for 600 MW of projects but secured only 470 MW under the bucket filling method.

HCL-Foxconn to invest Rs 37 billion in chip plant near Jewar airport

The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of a new semiconductor unit near Jewar airport in Uttar Pradesh under the India Semiconductor Mission.
