ZF Wind Power Achieves 50 GW Production Milestone in India

ZF Wind Power has reached a significant milestone by producing 50 gigawatts (GW) of gearbox capacity at its Coimbatore manufacturing facility, marking a major development in India's wind energy sector. This achievement positions the Coimbatore plant as the largest wind turbine gearbox manufacturer outside China, reinforcing ZF?s role as a key player in the global market.

The Coimbatore facility is crucial to ZF's strategy in India, with plans to expand its manufacturing capacity from 9 GW to 12 GW per year. This expansion aims to meet the increasing demands of the wind energy market and solidify India?s role in the global renewable energy landscape. A 13 MW test rig has also been installed at the plant, underlining ZF?s commitment to supporting India's renewable energy goals.

?ZF Wind Power is a leading gearbox supplier in India, providing gearboxes to both domestic and global customers under the ?Make in India for India and for the World? initiative,? stated Prof Dr. Peter Laier, Member of the Board of Management, ZF Group. Akash Passey, President of ZF Group in India, celebrated the plant's success, noting, ?We are proud to be the only plant in India to achieve this milestone. Our strategic focus on sustainability and ZF?s DNA of quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction has enabled us to maintain our leadership position in the Indian wind gearbox market.?

The expansion of the Coimbatore plant is part of a broader investment strategy by ZF, which committed INR 7.5 billion earlier this year during the Global Investors Meet in Chennai. This investment aims to leverage market potential and meet growing customer needs in the wind energy sector. Felix Henseler, CEO of ZF Wind Power, highlighted the company?s dedication to adapting to evolving customer demands, stating, ?ZF Wind Power?s investment is our commitment to flexibility in local and global production.?

Deepak Pohekar, Executive Director and Head of the ZF Wind Power plant in Coimbatore, described the facility as a state-of-the-art manufacturing hub, spread over more than 120,000 square meters, and serving as one of the major service hubs for ZF Wind Power.

This milestone marks a significant step forward for ZF Wind Power and the Indian wind energy sector, emphasizing the country?s growing importance in the global renewable energy market.
