Dheeraj Dev, Managing Director, H D WIRE (P) LTD, shares his views on the growing demand for various types of wires and their innovative range.H D WIRE (P) LTD was established in the year 1988 and the manufacturing story started back in the year 1994 in Indore, which is now a recognized name in the manufacturing, supplying, exporting and trading of Wire & Cable Products in India. Our product range are as follows: ACSR Core Wire & Strands, Hard Drawn Steel Wire, Barbed Wire & Binding Wire, Music Spring Wire, Cable Armour Wire & Strips, Cable Tape, Rope Wire, Crimping Wire, Earth Wire & Stay Wire, RQ/FQ Black & Galvanized, Farming GI Wire, Shutter Wire, General Engineering Purpose GI Wire, Spring Steel Wire, and Welded Wire Mesh.Tell us about the current market scenario for the wires in India and what are the opportunities you see going forward?The size of the Indian wire market is 5mn mt per annum. The major consumption of wire is in the infrastructure and construction segment. The wires are used in the segments as prestressed concrete wire, galvanized wire and weld mesh.Which segments within the infrastructure, construction and real estate sectors provide maximum demand to your business?Considering the Government's initiative to push the infrastructure segment and the funds allocation has increased the demand for steel wires. The per capita consumption of steel in India is 61 kg per person against the world avg. of 288 kg. Current steel production in India is 130 mn per year and as per steel policy formulated by the steel ministry envisages the production of 310 mn per year by 2030. Some of the projects like Bullet Trains, Construction of Concrete Roads & major thrusts for housing for all will definitely result into higher steel consumption and production.Tell us about the company鈥檚 recently launched products?The demand will be in LRPC, PC Wire, Binding Wire and Galvanized Wire. The Binding wire & Galvanized wire are important for us as we have sufficient capacities.Government has already started providing subsidies for farm fencing to save the crops from wild animals. All this will lead to an increase in the consumption of Galvanized wires. Recent efforts to diversify the product portfolio with Spring Steel Wire, Rope Wire are quite successful. Similarly, a lot of attention has been given on product branding and development of the retail sector for Galvanized wire, Fencing products & Binding wire.What about the firm's manufacturing facilities and annual production capacities?At present, H D Wire easily manufactures around 1,25,000 mt in coated and uncoated varieties. The installed capacity is around 1,30,000 mt per annum.What is the firm's focus & investment in R&D like?Continuous efforts are made to improve the surface finish of the galvanized wire and wire drawing operation with much lower level of pollution i.e., decaled wire drawing operation eliminating pickling process.How did the company perform in the last fiscal?The turnover of the company is Rs.309.22 cr in spite of the reduced economy on account of pandemic situation.(Communication by the management of the company)
