Organised by CII, the 16th edition of the International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) - India's only focused fair for the mining industry was held between November 16-19, 2022, at Rajarhat in Kolkata. The mining industry is key to India鈥檚 growth ambition of $5 trillion. With the government recently coming out with some critical reforms in the mining and coal sector under the Atmanirbhar Bharat package, mining is seen as one sector that has the potential to trigger growth, revenue and employment. Against this backdrop, IMME 2022 showcased the latest range of mining machinery, equipment, advanced technology solutions, services and supplies from India and abroad. Since its inception in 1984, IMME has been the most prominent mining exhibition that brings together the segment's key players, contributing to the growth of the sector in India. With four days of power-packed international exhibitions, 350+ exhibitors, and 700+ delegates, India鈥檚 largest mining exhibition saw the who鈥檚 who of the segment come together under one roof. Spread over 100,000 sq ft, the exhibitors included players from crushing and conveying equipment, machinery, supplies and consumables, procurement and supply managers, contractors, cement manufacturers, steel, aluminium industry, and many more. Amidst the IMME, the Global Mining Summit 2022 discussed the Role of Minerals in Shaping a Sustainable Future to highlight the growth and emerging trends in the Indian mining sector. It focused on the high-priority aspects of the mining business including exploration, ease of doing business, new technology, policy frameworks for sustainable mining, and emerging opportunities. Participation from major geographies like Australia, Canada, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the UK, Indonesia, and Russia, has made IMME an ideal platform for collaborations, technology transfer and networking opportunities with key international players in the sector.
