At a time when the Indian construction equipment (CE) industry is going through difficult times, it is impressive to see that the excavator market in India is gaining some momentum with more players entering the Indian excavator market. The recent product introductions of leading global players reflect the confidence that these players have on the Indian market. With the roads and highways construction picking up and revival in the mining and stone quarrying are expected to bring back the momentum for hydraulic excavators in India. The latest development in the Indian hydraulic excavator market is the entry of CASE Construction Equipment with its Made-in-India CX220C crawler excavator. The excavator is manufactured at CASE鈥檚 plant in Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh). CASE had first showcased the model in the Excon 2019 and the company is now ready to penetrate the Indian market with the new product. Especially designed for the toughest applications, the machine is equipped with FPT Industrial engine to ensure high productivity with low fuel consumption. It is ideally suited for stone quarries, road works, general construction and earthworks. The product is being commercialised in the Indian sub-continent and across Asian and African markets from the launch. Speaking at the launch, Raunak Varma, Country Manager, CNH Industrial India, said, 鈥淲ith the launch of our new product today, we have expanded our offering to include the largest segment in the Indian equipment market. As one of the biggest construction equipment markets and one of the fastest growing economies in the world, India forms a key part of our growth strategy.鈥 Following the success of SDLG wheel loaders and motor graders on the Indian market, the Volvo Group is now introducing its range of SDLG excavators. The first SDLG excavator model launched in India is the 13 t E6135Fi, with the first units already in the country and heading to dealers for immediate sale. Dimitrov Krishnan, Head of Volvo CE India, said the strong reputation of SDLG products for reliability and performance will help the new excavator line get off to a good start. 鈥淥ver the past few years we鈥檝e seen our SDLG wheel loaders and motor graders achieve market-leading positions in the sectors they鈥檙e active. That gives us full confidence to introduce the SDLG line of excavators to India, starting with the 13 t class. In 2021, we are expecting continued demand for excavators to fuel India鈥檚 ongoing infrastructure development, and our SDLG products will be perfectly placed to meet our customers鈥 needs,鈥 he added. The major application for the new SDLG E6135Fi excavator is expected to be road construction, which is a major growth driver in India. The quality, reach and affordability of the E6135Fi make it an ideal choice for contractors working on these projects, according to the company. Earlier, Schwing Stetter India had introduced XCMG range of hydraulic excavators in Indian market last year during Excon. The company is now planning to manufacture the range from its upcoming facility in Chennai. Initially, the company will be assembling the equipment and going forward, the complete machine will be manufactured at the Chennai facility with aggregates, engines and everything from India, according to the company source. Currently, focused in south Indian states only, the company plans to enter new markets in Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal and North-East states in the next phase and by January 2021, it will have presence pan-India for hydraulic excavators. As the third-largest excavator market in the world, India is gaining prominence among the global players. They are bullish on the prospects of hydraulic excavators in India as many global players are keen on making India as export hub for their hydraulic excavators. While the traditional players already having their strong presence in the market, the entry of new player will further scale up the competition in the market.
