With the city set to get 1,400 pink electric autos exclusively for women, the government has decided to accord priority to widows, 诲颈惫辞谤肠茅别蝉, inmates of state homes or children鈥檚 homes, orphans and economically disadvantaged women to provide them with a secure means of livelihood. Under the scheme, autos can be owned by women aged 18-35 holding a driving licence. The government will offer a 20 percent subsidy to buy an e-auto. Applicants will have to cover 10 percent of the vehicle cost and the remaining 70 percent will be financed through bank loans. There are 200-300 autos run by both women and men in two shifts across the Mumbai region. The state will have to ensure better charging infrastructure for e-autos as 4,400 pink e-autos are to be introduced across the MMR.
