The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of an MoU between India and Nepal for the construction of a bridge over the Mahakali  River in Dharchula, Uttarakhand. According to Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, the MoU between India and Nepal will be signed in the “near future� and the bridge will be completed within three years.“The bridge's building will benefit people in Dharchula, Uttarakhand and Nepal's territory,”added Thakur, laying emphasis upon India and Nepal’s unique friendship and cooperation as neighbours, typified by an open border and deep-rooted kinship and cultural contacts.The signing of the MoU will improve diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to a media release.India and Nepal have collaborated on a number of regional and global forums, including the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
