Indian and Danish governments have unveiled the smart laboratory on clean rivers (SLCR) project. The Indian Institute of Technology - Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU), Government of Denmark and Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, formed an alliance to advance small river management and rejuvenation. The Ministry of Jal Shakti provided collaboration with an initial funding of Rs 16.8 billion while Denmark provided an extra grant of Rs 50 million to support project development. The commitment includes creating a decision support system (DSS) for water management that will use hydrological models, scenario creation, forecasting and data analytics to analyse basin water dynamics. In order to promote the AI sector in the State, the government entered into 26 memoranda of understanding with various companies, start-ups and organisations, in the areas of computer infrastructure, start-up innovation, Generative AI, research and collaboration, skilling and data annotation.The government will put in place an AI governance framework to ensure ethical governance in AI development. The framework will also include stringent regulations to prevent AI misuse, such as deep fakes and AI-driven misinformation, safeguarding democratic processes.  Greater Chennai Corporation to float bonds to mobilise fundsTo bring in more funds to address the infrastructural needs of the city, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has decided to float municipal bonds. As GCC's Rs 45 billion annual revenue is spent mostly on administration and salaries, and government grants have dwindled, GCC has taken the bonds route.
