Liebherr, STRABAG test hydrogen wheel loader

A special event at Gratkorn quarry marked the start of the project for the first test use of the large hydrogen powered wheel loader. In addition to technical presentations and a tour of the quarry, the hydrogen-powered wheel loader was demonstrated in operation. For the next two years, STRABAG will be testing the L 566 H prototype on a daily basis. A hydrogen filling station is being built to refuel the wheel loader directly at the quarry. The energy supplier Energie Steiermark will provide the green hydrogen required for this. The large wheel loader with a hydrogen engine should save up to 100 tonnes of CO2 each year, corresponding to about 37,500 litres of diesel. The L 566 H from Liebherr is the world鈥檚 first prototype large wheel loader with a hydrogen engine.

CE sector may see revenue growth decelerate
The construction equipment (CE) sector is expected to witness a revenue growth deceleration to 4-6 per cent this fiscal, said a CRISIL Ratings report because of a decline in road construction contracts that curbed sales volume. The deceleration is in comparison to 27 per cent growth last fiscal when sales volume peaked to around 135,000 units on strong demand from roads, railways and mining. Despite tepid sales, CRISIL said, revenue will grow this fiscal year because of better realisations, with product prices likely to surge after the implementation of the construction equipment vehicles (CEV) Stage-V emission norms in the last quarter. Benign input prices will also keep operating margin stable at 10.0-10.5 per cent.
