Manitowoc debuted four new cranes at Bauma 2022: the Grove GRT8100-1 rough-terrain crane, the Grove GMK4070L four-axle crane, the Potain MR229 luffing jib tower crane, and the Potain MDT 159 topless tower crane.
The previously released five-axle Grove GMK5150XL and GMK5120L all-terrain cranes also made their first public appearance at Bauma.
Grove GRT8100-1
Grove's popular GRT8100 has been upgraded with several improvements, including a new chassis, updated engine and transmission package, and a new wider cab with improved operating features.
Grove GMK4070L
Manitowoc also unveiled the four-axle Grove GMK4070L all-terrain crane, claiming it has the strongest load charts and the longest boom in its class at 196 feet. The 70-metric-ton crane can lift 4.4 metric tonne at full extension, and owners can pick up loads weighing up to 8.3 metric tonne at 160 ft. The GMK4070L can lift 1 metric tonne at its maximum radius of 150 ft.
Potain MR 229
The MR 229 is the first of a new generation of Potain luffing jib tower cranes to feature Manitowoc's Crane Control System and the new Potain CONNECT telematics offering. The 14-metric-tonne capacity crane's design features shorter wind vane spans for easier installation on tight job sites.
MDT Potain 159
The new 6-metric-ton capacity MDT 159, which fills the gap between the MDT 139 and MDT 189, is ideal for small to midsized building projects up to 10 floors, according to Manitowoc. Because it reduces the clearance required for other cranes passing overhead or underneath, the topless concept is ideal for multi-crane work sites. Three containers are required to transport the entire upper section of the crane, making it easier to get the crane on and off the jobsite.
