L&T, Microsoft signs deal to provide cloud computing services

Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and Microsoft India announced that both companies had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop regulated sector-focused cloud services for the customers and the best cloud computing and infrastructure services.
L&T and Microsoft India will co-engage with various customers in the regulated sectors to develop architectures and road maps to modernise the traditional data centres to potential hybrid models and advance their digital transformation targets.
According to the agreement, both the companies will develop a joint governance group to define their future platform designs, investments, and commercial and business models to service the regulated sectors emerging technological requirements.
Currently, India is at the point of vast cloud adoption, as innovation, scale, and agility become critical determinants for companies to grow and compete globally.
CEO and Managing Director of L&T, S N Subrahmanyan, said that the company's partnership with Microsoft India focuses on accelerating hybrid cloud transition for a large number of customers in the regulated sectors, maintaining the highest benchmarks of compliance, security, and governance within the industry.
The MoU will focus on engaging with the customers in the Indian jurisdiction, having the power to extend this partnership to other jurisdictions later. Both these companies will consider possible partnership structures to continue to collaborate for the performance of this agreement.
President of Microsoft India, Anant Maheshwari, said that Microsoft would collaborate with L&T to support the public sector and the other regulated sectors to accelerate digital services to customers across India.
He said that the partnership of the companies would ensure development and enable scalable cloud infrastructure models for the regulated sectors, accelerating their digital innovation, following the data location and security needs of India.
