NCR states to benefit from high-speed corridor

Apart from including Bharatpur in the National Capital Region (NCR) and making Jaipur as a Counter-Magnate Area (CMA), the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) also approved the construction of a high-speed corridor between Alwar and Delhi. Once completed, the distance between two cities can be covered in less than 30 minutes. Rajasthan is among the stake holders in the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) which will develop speedy connectivity between national capital and satellites towns.

Rajasthan has already pooled in its share of Rs 12.5 crore for construction of a high-speed corridor between Alwar and Delhi. Four states 鈥 Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi 鈥 are the stake holders in the project which has been started with an initial funding of Rs 100 crore. Each state has contributed 12.5 per cent while railways has invested Rs 50 crore. GS Sandhu, Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing said that the Department has given its contribution of Rs 12.5 crore in the newly developed corporation.

The agreement in principle was given earlier but now we have formally become part of it. The project will reduce the travelling time between Alwar and Delhi and develop Bhiwadi and Neemrana as major investment hubs in the country, he said. A feasibility study of alignments from Delhi to Alwar prepared by the Urban Mass Transit Company has already been submitted to ministry of urban development and approved by the NCRPB.
