Rs 19.36 cr for harbour development in Kerala

For development and maintenance of various harbours in Kerala, the State government has given its administrative sanction for Rs 19.36 crore. The government has sanctioned Rs 12 crore for purchasing a container-handling crane of 40-tonne capacity at Beypore harbour. Kerala Minister for Ports K Babu said that this crane is being purchased as part of the coastal shipping project. Apart from Beypore, coastal cargo shipment project is being implemented in Vizhinjam, Azheekkal and Kollam harbours. For improving various facilities in other harbours Rs 7.36 crore has been sanctioned, the Minister said.
