Given the current pollution crisis in India, Ahmedabad in Gujarat is set to establish a new oxygen park featuring 75,000 trees. This initiative represents a significant effort to combat pollution and serves as a model for other cities facing similar challenges. The primary goal of the oxygen park is to enhance air quality by introducing green spaces.
Union 亚博体育官网首页 Minister Amit Shah recently inaugurated an Oxygen Park at Sindhu Bhavan in Ahmedabad. Similar projects are now being undertaken in cities like Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, and Junagadh. These parks aim to mimic jungle-like environments, creating urban forests that improve air quality and overall city health. In addition to their environmental benefits, the parks will offer facilities such as walking trails, yoga zones, and birdwatching areas, promoting recreation and wellness. The newest oxygen park in Ahmedabad is being developed in Tragad, spanning 24,000 square metres and housing over 75,000 trees and plants. Ahmedabad already boasts several oxygen parks, including one at Sindhu Bhavan, which covers 27,000 square metres and features 1.67 lakh plants and trees. Another park in Science City, Hebatpur, contains more than 12,000 trees and shrubs across 4,000 square metres.
Elsewhere in Gujarat, Rajkot has an oxygen park with 150 plant species, and five more are under construction in Upaleta. Kutch also hosts an oxygen park with over 3,600 trees.
These initiatives are not solely government-driven but are supported by local communities and social organisations. Such efforts promise a healthier and greener future by reducing pollution and creating serene spaces for people to enjoy and breathe clean air.
