The Ministry of Ayush provided comprehensive healthcare services to over 800,000 pilgrims at the Maha Kumbh Mela, ensuring their sacred journey remained safe and healthy. Through 20 Ayush OPDs and mobile health units, more than 90 doctors and 150 healthcare workers offered continuous medical care throughout the event, particularly during the Mahashivratri bath.
Dr Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Nodal Officer for Ayush at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, highlighted the growing trust in traditional Indian medicine, with Ayush services addressing the health needs of a vast number of devotees. Therapeutic yoga sessions conducted by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) further promoted physical and mental well-being.
Three Ayush Convention Halls in Sectors 2, 21, and 24 hosted daily yoga and wellness sessions, educating pilgrims on preventive healthcare and holistic living. Special health screenings were also conducted for revered sadhus and saints at prominent Akharas like Juna, Anand, Niranjani, and Vaishnav Akharas.
Mobile Ayush health units distributed medicines across the Mela area, and the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) provided 10,000 Ayush Raksha kits containing essential Ayurvedic medicines and wellness products. A week-long health camp further benefited 15,000 pilgrims.
Adding a green touch, the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) distributed over 25,000 medicinal plants, including Tulsi, Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Neem, Amla, and Curry Leaf, promoting natural healing and daily use of medicinal plants.
The Ministry of Ayush鈥檚 efforts integrated traditional healthcare with the spiritual experience of the Maha Kumbh, making holistic wellness a core part of this grand event.
