Double Toll for Non-Affixed FASTags

Starting soon, vehicles without FASTags affixed to their front windshields will incur double the regular toll charges at highway toll plazas. This new policy, introduced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), aims to encourage compliance with FASTag regulations and streamline toll collection processes.

FASTags, which are electronic toll collection devices, have been mandated to facilitate seamless and efficient toll payments. By affixing a FASTag to the front windshield, vehicles can pass through toll plazas without stopping, reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. The introduction of double toll charges for non-compliance is intended to incentivize vehicle owners to adhere to this requirement.

The policy targets vehicles that are either missing a FASTag or have not properly affixed it to the designated location on their windshields. This measure is expected to enhance the efficiency of toll collection and ensure that the benefits of automated tolling systems are fully realized.

In addition to speeding up toll transactions, the FASTag system aims to reduce the overall operational costs associated with manual toll collection and improve the accuracy of toll revenue management.

Overall, the new double toll policy represents a significant step towards enforcing FASTag compliance and optimizing the toll collection process. Vehicle owners are advised to ensure that their FASTags are correctly affixed to avoid the additional charges and to contribute to a smoother tolling experience.
