GeM Insures 13 Million People, Facilitates 1 Million Hires in FY 2425

The Government e Marketplace (GeM) achieved two major milestones in FY 202425 by facilitating insurance coverage for over 13 million individuals and supporting the hiring of 1 million manpower resources across government organisations.

Launched to enhance transparency and efficiency in public procurement, GeM introduced insurance services in January 2022, offering a streamlined platform for government entities to procure Health, Life, and Personal Accident Insurance. All services are delivered exclusively through IRDAI-approved providers, ensuring quality and compliance.
GeM CEO Ajay Bhadoo stated, “This milestone reflects the growing trust in GeM’s ability to deliver secure, seamless, and cost-effective procurement solutions. It reaffirms GeM’s role as a transformative force in public service delivery.

The platform’s direct buyer-insurer model, which eliminates intermediaries, has helped reduce premiums and expedite policy issuance. In addition to personal insurance, GeM now also provides Asset, Marine, Transit, Crop, Cyber, Livestock, Motor, and Liability Insurance, making it a one-stop solution for diverse government insurance needs.

These developments position GeM as a key enabler of digital governance and financial inclusion, reinforcing its impact on public sector efficiency and citizen welfare.
