Hindalco Delivers 10,000 Aluminium Battery Enclosures to Mahindra

Hindalco Industries Ltd has successfully delivered 10,000 aluminium battery enclosures for Mahindra鈥檚 new electric SUVs, BE 6 and XEV 9e. The delivery marks a significant step in India鈥檚 clean mobility journey. Hindalco also inaugurated its state-of-the-art EV component manufacturing facility at Chakan, Maharashtra.

Built with an investment of Rs five billion across five acres, the Chakan facility has a current capacity of 80,000 battery enclosures annually, with plans to double to 160,000 units. Over 3,000 Mahindra EVs using Hindalco's aluminium battery packs are already operating on Indian roads.

The enclosures are manufactured using low-carbon aluminium, reinforcing Hindalco鈥檚 focus on sustainability.

The Chakan plant, expected to generate up to 1,000 jobs, is notable for its nearly all-women operator workforce, promoting inclusivity in manufacturing. Hindalco plans to expand its aluminium solutions to other Indian and global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), covering structural and crash-relevant parts for electric and internal combustion vehicles.
