India Showcases Organic Strength at BIOFACH 2025

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) showcased India’s rich organic farming legacy at BIOFACH 2025, held from February 11 to 14 in Nuremberg, Germany. The India Pavilion, inaugurated by Shri Shatrughna Sinha, Consul General of India in Munich, along with APEDA Chairman Shri Abhishek Dev, highlighted India’s growing influence in the global organic food sector.

A key milestone of the event was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between APEDA and Nuremberg Messe on February 11, 2025, confirming India as the Partner Country for BIOFACH 2026. This agreement, signed by APEDA Chairman Shri Abhishek Dev and Nuremberg Messe Vice President Ms. Victoria Vehse, marks India's return to this prestigious role after first achieving it in 2012.

The India Pavilion featured an extensive range of organic products, including pulses, spices, rice, processed foods, and essential oils, reflecting India’s agricultural diversity. More than 20 co-exhibitors, including exporters, farmer-producer organisations (FPOs), and state government bodies, participated, showcasing products such as oilseeds, herbs, cashews, turmeric, large cardamom, mango puree, and cinnamon.

Visitors experienced India’s organic food culture through curated tastings of premium organic dishes, including Basmati rice biryani and golden turmeric latte. Live cooking demonstrations, featuring millet dosa and other traditional Indian delicacies, further engaged attendees. The pavilion also offered a cultural experience with henna art, highlighting India's deep-rooted traditions alongside its sustainable farming expertise.

India had the highest participation among non-European nations at BIOFACH 2025, reinforcing its status as a global leader in organic agriculture. APEDA's efforts continue to support Indian exporters in meeting the rising global demand for sustainable and high-quality organic products.

With India set to take centre stage as the Partner Country at BIOFACH 2026, APEDA aims to strengthen collaborations and position India as the world’s most trusted source of organic food.
