India鈥檚 passenger vehicle sales reached a record high of 4.3 Mn units in financial year 2024鈥�25, a 2 per cent rise from the previous year, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Utility vehicles were the top growth driver, accounting for 65 per cent of total PV sales, up from 60 per cent the year before. SIAM credited the growth to new model launches, modern features, and attractive discounts. India also recorded its highest-ever passenger vehicle exports at 770,000 units, a 14.6 per cent increase, driven by strong demand from Latin America, Africa, and even developed countries. The broader automobile sector posted 7.3 per cent growth in domestic sales and 19.2 per cent in exports, supported by government policy, infrastructure development, and demand for sustainable mobility. In the two-wheeler segment, sales reached 19.6 Mn units, growing 9.1 per cent. Scooter sales led the recovery due to improved rural connectivity and consumer confidence.
