Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Haryana on Monday, 14 April, to launch a series of key infrastructure and connectivity initiatives aimed at enhancing the state's aviation, power, and transport sectors.
In Hisar, he flagged off the first commercial flight from Hisar to Ayodhya and laid the foundation stone for a new terminal building at Maharaja Agrasen Airport. The new terminal, estimated to cost over Rs 4.10 billion, was planned to include a modern passenger terminal, cargo handling facilities, and an air traffic control tower. The introduction of scheduled flights from Hisar to Ayodhya (twice weekly), along with services to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh (thrice weekly), marked a significant improvement in Haryana’s aviation network.
Later in Yamunanagar, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several development projects. Among them was an 800 MW thermal power unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant. Spanning 233 acres and costing approximately Rs 84.70 billion, the project aimed to enhance Haryana’s energy capacity and provide consistent electricity supply across the state.
Furthering the clean energy agenda, a Compressed Biogas Plant was also initiated in Mukarabpur, Yamunanagar. With an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes, the plant was designed to support waste-to-energy conversion and sustainable fuel generation under the GOBARDhan scheme.
Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Rs 10.70 billion Rewari Bypass project under the Bharatmala Pariyojana. The 14.4 km bypass was expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Rewari, reduce travel time between Delhi and Narnaul by nearly an hour, and drive economic growth in the region.
