Shri Amardeep Bhatia, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), chaired a high-level Project Monitoring Group (PMG) review meeting to assess progress on major infrastructure projects in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. The meeting was attended by senior officials from central ministries, state governments, and private sector project proponents.
A total of 17 key infrastructure projects, collectively worth over Rs 140 billion, were reviewed during the session, which addressed 19 critical issues affecting project execution. The discussions emphasised inter-ministerial and inter-state coordination to accelerate timelines and overcome implementation bottlenecks.
A prominent project under review was the four-laning of the Jaunpur-Akbarpur road, valued at Rs 316 billion. The project spans two key work packages and is poised to enhance regional connectivity and bolster road infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
Another focus area was the establishment of new Employees鈥 State Insurance (ESI) Hospitals across strategic locations in the region. These healthcare infrastructure projects are part of the Centre鈥檚 broader strategy to improve medical facilities in underserved areas, thereby enhancing the well-being of workers and their families.
The construction of the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Uttarakhand in Sumari, Pauri Garhwal district, was also discussed. Once completed, the campus will provide a cutting-edge academic and administrative environment, significantly uplifting the region鈥檚 technical education and research capabilities.
Reaffirming the Government's commitment to efficient project execution, Shri Bhatia urged all stakeholders to adopt a proactive approach to issue resolution. He encouraged increased engagement with the PMG portal (https://pmg.dpiit.gov.in/), enabling faster resolution of project-related concerns through coordinated efforts with relevant government bodies.
