Tripura, Tata Join for ITI Boost

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tata Technologies Ltd on Wednesday to upgrade 19 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state. The upgradation, aimed at enhancing skill development, is part of a larger effort to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for skill acquisition.

The total cost for the Rs 683.27 crore upgradation plan will be shared between Tata Technologies Ltd, which will contribute 86 percent, and the state government, covering the remaining 14 percent. Additionally, the state government plans to spend Rs 107 crore separately to improve the existing infrastructure in these ITIs. The upgradation initiative is set to be implemented over a five-year period.

The Chief Minister emphasized that many of the current courses offered by the ITIs were outdated and lacked job prospects, which made it difficult for graduates to find employment. With the new upgradation plan, the ITIs will introduce modern courses that not only have promising job prospects within India but also internationally. Furthermore, Tata Technologies Ltd has committed to absorbing the graduates from these upgraded institutes into its workforce, addressing the growing demand for skilled labor.

CM Saha hailed the MoA as a milestone in enhancing skill development in Tripura. The new courses are expected to attract students who had previously lost confidence in the older courses, opening up new avenues for employment and sustainable growth in the state.
