Ranchi administration came up with an innovative approach collaborating with the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI). The idea is to provide discounts to people who have been vaccinated in the districts when they purchase everyday items and services from notified shops.
As per the discount plan, a complete total of 14 categories of goods are listed over 25 commercial establishments in the city.
The discount ranges from 1% to 25% for people who took their first dose. However, it is almost double for people who have taken both doses of the vaccine.
An official announcement from the district administration said the discounts are relevant on furniture, home d茅cor items, cosmetics, gifts, parlour and salon services, clothing items, books and stationery products, and electronic goods. Bicycles, dry cleaners as well as building construction supplies are also on the list.
The discount would vary between 25% and 45% for electrical goods, depending on whether the buyer has taken only one dose or both doses.
Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan told the media that discounts are offered to encourage people to take the vaccine. It would also help the markets to improve by increasing footfall.
Citizens of Ranchi have embraced the initiative of the administration. Kumar Abhishek, a Pundag resident, told the media that he has taken both doses of the vaccine and plans to buy furniture, and now he will get a 40% discount on the purchase.
