WBIDC to set up industrial park in Asansol

The West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) is looking for consultants to prepare a detailed project report for an industrial park on the 193-acre land of the Dhakeswari Cotton Mill in Asansol. The park is expected to be completed in a year.

WBIDC began looking for consultants after the state cabinet standing committee decided to set up the park near National Highway 19. "The consultant will help WBIDC to prepare all necessary documents and obtain the necessary clearances to set up the industrial park," an official said.

Land department officials said the plot of land was valued at around Rs 100 crore and the park would be open for bidding to set up industrial units.

At a recent meeting in Nabanna, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked officials to advertise that the plot would be available for setting up industries. Banerjee also asked Law and Labour Minister and Asansol MLA Moloy Ghatak to ensure that the park was ready for bidding soon.

Industry and Commerce Minister Shashi Panja has held a series of meetings to ensure that the park's infrastructure is completed soon.
