REC, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, has sanctioned Rs. 6.01 crore under its CSR initiative for deploying five Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Uttarakhand. The initiative, part of REC Foundation鈥檚 鈥楧octor Aapke Dwaar鈥 programme, was launched in partnership with CSC Academy.
The units were inaugurated by Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, along with the state鈥檚 Health Minister Shri Dhan Singh Rawat and senior officials from the Health Department, REC and CSC Academy.
Of the five MMUs, two each will operate in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, and one in Tehri Garhwal, focusing on underserved areas. Each unit will function six days a week, offering free diagnostic and treatment services.
In a gender-sensitive step, one MMU is exclusively dedicated to women鈥檚 healthcare and staffed entirely by female medical professionals. The initiative aims to improve access to quality care for women in remote and conservative regions.
The MMUs will operate in coordination with district CMOs and the Uttarakhand Health Department to ensure seamless care delivery. The project aligns with the state鈥檚 鈥淪wasth Uttarakhand, Samriddh Uttarakhand鈥 vision.
REC鈥檚 initiative builds on similar efforts in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab, reinforcing its commitment to rural healthcare and inclusive development.
