Russia National Science Prize to Honour Tech Breakthroughs

Applications are now open for the international prize in the field of future technologies VYZOV. This prestigious award recognises breakthrough ideas and inventions that transform the landscape of modern science and impact the lives of individuals globally. The mission of the VYZOV Prize is to inspire and motivate the younger generation to pursue a lifelong commitment to science. The prize aims to recognise and celebrate scientific achievements to promote the desirability of science as a career. In doing so, it aspires to establish scientists as exemplary role models for future generations.
The prize has four categories that honour the Russian scientists:
鈥淏reakthrough鈥�, 鈥淓ngineering Solution鈥�, 鈥淪cientist of the Year鈥�, and 鈥淧erspective鈥�. In 2024, a fifth category, Discovery, was introduced, which is open to scientists from any country.
The Prize is awarded in five categories to active researchers for achievements made preferably (but not exclusively) over the past ten years:
鈥� Breakthrough: for scientific research that has solved an important scientific or technological problem.
鈥� Engineering solution: for a major invention or the creation of new technology.
鈥� Perspective: for a scientific achievement that has influenced the dynamics of the development of science and technology (awarded to scientists under 35 years of age).
鈥� Scientist of the Year: for an overall personal contribution to altering the landscape of science and technology.
鈥� Discovery: an international category for a significant scientific discovery that has impacted the development of science and technology.
Candidates can apply through one of the following methods:
鈥� Self-nomination.
鈥� Nomination by any colleague who is a scientist.
鈥� Nominations by any scientific organisation (such as a university or research institute).
The prize fund is 60 million rubles approximately in each of the five nominations.
Applications will be accepted until May 21, 2025.
