Bokaro steel plant directed to repair houses in its township

The Bokaro district administration has asked Bokaro steel plant (BSL) to review the conditions of the homes in its township before monsoon and take up repair works to prevent mishaps.

Sources told the media that Rajesh Singh, the deputy commissioner, sent a letter to BSL in this regard on Friday evening.

As reported, the staircases of three separate residential blocks in the township were damaged during Cyclone Yaas. The incident caught the attention of the district administration, although no mishap took place. Many residents often complain about the poor upkeep of specific sections of the quarters in the township.

Over three lakh people reside in the BSL township, which has ten sectors. Many of these residential buildings required repairing and maintenance in each of the sectors. The subsidence of the roofs of the staircase is a common occurrence during rainfall or monsoon.

Manikant Dhan, BSL's Chief of Communication, informed the media that the civil department has already identified t 32 residential blocks in various sectors and took up repair and maintenance tasks. He said that because of partial lockdown and Covid-19, repairing activities were delayed, but now they are being done on a war footing before monsoon.
